The Center for Language Studies will offer beginning courses in Afrikaans during Fall and Winter Semesters if a qualified teacher and sufficient student interest can be found. The Humanities Technology Research Support Center also offers a FLATS proficiency exam in Afrikaans.

Albanian
The Center for Language Studies offers FLANG 330R, an advanced Albanian course which requires fluency. In addition, the Center will schedule beginning courses in Albanian if a qualified teacher and sufficient student interest can be found. The Center also administers an Albanian Credit Exam for BYU students. The Humanities Technology Research Support Center also offers a FLATS proficiency exam in Albanian.

Arabic
A full range of Arabic courses are taught at BYU through the Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages. The department offers an undergraduate minor in Arabic and participates in the interdisciplinary major, Middle East Studies/Arabic. Arabic is also a language specialization in the Second Language Teaching MA program. Intensive courses in Arabic are regularly offered during the Summer Term by the Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages. The Humanities Technology Research Support Center also offers a FLATS proficiency exam in Arabic.

Armenian

ASL
American Sign Language is the predominate form of sign language used as a means of communication among deaf communities in the United States and much of Canada. A full range of ASL courses are taught at BYU through the Center for Language Studies, and intensive courses in ASL are regularly offered during Spring and Summer Terms. Students can complete the GE languages of learning credit by completing ASL 202. The department does not offer a major or minor in ASL; however, advanced ASL classes, which include ASL linguistics and introduction to interpreting, are offered.

Aymara
Aymara is the main language spoken by the Aymaran people living in the Andes. Although BYU does not currently offer courses in Aymara, the Center for Language Studies will schedule courses in Aymara if a qualified teacher and sufficient student interest can be found. The Humanities Technology Research Support Center also offers a FLATS proficiency exam in Aymara.
